This is my second year in the Applied Mathematics department as an Overseas student.
I have gone through many problems and difficulties as a foreign student during this last one
year, starting from the language barrier to the teaching and studying method here in Taiwan.
For the language problem, I am so thankful that the teachers and classmates in my department
help me a lot when I have any problem regarding not understanding the teacher’s explanation,
they will surely help me out, either by translating it to English, or repeating the explanation using
easier sentences so I could understand better. Besides that, when I ask for an English test
paper from teachers, they will let me have it, and luckily most of the books used are in English,
so I don’t really need to worry that I can’t understand the materials. For the studying part,
anytime I have any questions, my classmates and teachers will help me explain the question
and guide me to solve the problem. Lastly, I would like to thank classmates and teachers in my
department for being so helpful to a foreign student like me. Hopefully I can continue to study in
this department with this environment, keep improving my Chinese, and get good scores for the
subjects in my major. 111印尼生郭恬言
