Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most common type of lung cancer, which accounts for 20% of all cancer deaths worldwide. In this talk, I will introduce our efforts in the etiology studies of LUAD, which may help propose prevention and treatment measures. Based on a recent genome-wide association study of LUAD in East Asia, we conducted transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS) using a Taiwanese lung eQTL dataset and identified two novel candidate genes. We also proposed a method to combine two eQTL datasets to increase the number of predictable genes for TWAS. The method was evaluated and illustrated by one dataset from Illumina BeadArray technology and another from RNA-seq technology.
